This year in World History I enjoyed learning about the Egyptians. I liked to learn about them because I found it cool how they had the important people mummified. I liked their thoughts with the after life and how they could live forever. The other thing I thought was cool was that they wore make-up and had lots of gold.
During the Egyptian chapter, I learned about their social structure. Their social structure went: kings at the top, then came nobles and priests, merchants, craftsmen, and scribes, and finally enslaved people. I also learned that the first girl Egyptian leader in power was named Hatshepsut. Hatshepsut was a good leader the built buildings but not many people liked her so she was thrown out of power very soon. Later in that chapter I also learned that the people relied on the Nile River for their land and for drink. The bad side about the Nile was that it would flood their lands and sometimes drown people.
Some new skills I have learned throughout the year were to use maps and make scales. We used maps to label were different countries and cities that related to the lesson. Another thing I learned during the year was to make power points. We made power points to present our projects and sometimes for a review game before we have a test. Something else we learned was to use SMART Notebook. We used that to make a review for the class so we could understand our chapter a lot better. Using the technology helped us a lot.
I can apply the knowledge to the real world because later in my life I will need to make power points to present ideas or show something to a company. I will also need to know about World History so I can know all about the country and make decisions on elections. If I were to become an archeologist I would need to know about the ancient Greeks and know about artifacts and hieroglyphics. Something else I would use for the real world would be if I were to go hiking and I would need to read maps if I was lost or needed to find my way around. I have learned many things this year in social studies and I thought it was pretty cool!
The project that I am most proud of is the Ancient Greece project.
